This tapestry is one of a series of four based upon the panels from Alphonse Mucha.
Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) was a prolific Moravian painter of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries and a key figure in the Art Nouveau movement. His style of painting influenced an entire generation of painters, graphic artists and designers and in the minds of many, his work epitomizes Art Nouveau.
The original four seasons series was painted in 1896 but became so enduringly popular that Mucha was induced by his printer Champenois to create two additional sets based on the same theme which he did in 1897 and 1900. This series is based upon the 1900 collection.
