Cicely Mary Barker (1895-1973) was the illustrator who created the famous Flower Fairies in the shape of ethereal children with butterfly wings. As a child she was greatly infuenced by the works of Kate Greenaway whom she assiduously copied in her formative years. Her principle influence, however, was the artwork of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood who's members included Edward Burne-Jones.
These products are produced under licence from Cicely Mary Barker and are therefore representative of her original designs. The cushion front is a woven tapestry panel produced in Belgium using the same techniques as our tapestry wallhangings.
